Transitions® Lenses

Transitions Lenses are the ideal choice for everyday lenses because they provide the clarity of a traditional lens, but have an added plus. Transition lenses automatically adjust to changing light for everyday convenient protection, everyday visual quality, and everyday visual comfort.

How Transitions® Lenses Work: Transitions® Lenses contain patented photochromic dye that cause the lens to activate, or darken, when exposed to ultraviolet rays from sunlight. When the UV light diminishes, the lenses fade back to their virtually clear state. As light conditions change, the level of darkness adjusts, offering just the right level of tint and just the right level of light to enter the eyes at the right time.

Why Wear Transitions Lenses: Transitions® Lenses provide visual quality, visual comfort and convenient protection with these performance features:

  • Automatic protection that's convenient and effortless
  • Virtually as clear as regular, hard-coated clear lenses indoors
  • Even clearer with an anti-reflective coating
  • As dark as most sunglasses outside in bright light
  • Fast to activate
  • Fast to fade back
  • Block 100% of the sun's eye-damaging UV rays
  • Reduce painful, discomforting glare
  • Reduce eye fatigue
  • Improve contrast
  • Offer the right tint at the right time in changing light
  • Transitions® Optical's innovative photochromic technologies offer unparalleled lens performance in nearly every lens design and material, including shatter-resistant lenses, bifocals, trifocals, and progressives, in standard polycarbonate and high index materials.

    Safety Glasses

The simple fact is that in certain work environments you need to protect your eyes from the hazards in your environment.

The difference between street or dress eyewear and safety eyewear is that safety eyewear meets the ANSI Z87.1-2003 Standard set by OSHA for eye protection. OSHA regulations direct employers that safety eyewear should be worn whenever there is a risk of injury to the eyes due to impact, heat, chemical, dust or optical radiation hazards. OSHA regulations may seem a pain, but they have helped to reduce the incidents of eye injury in the work place.

In addition, anyone doing any type of hazardous work at home should consider wearing safety eyewear. After all, you only have two eyes!

Tell Me More About Safety Eyewear: Safety glasses consist of a safety frame and safety lenses. A safety frame is sturdier than most "dress frames" and not easily bent or broken. Some have side shields, and some don't, depending on your specific job.

What about the Lenses in My Safety Glasses? Safety lenses are usually made out of polycarbonate material. They are impact resistant, shatter proof and able to block out all harmful UV rays.
